One of the first things I do at the golf school is clip on a SAMI (Structural Awareness Motion Instrument).
The reason is because it's so easy to forget what the arms are doing that we end up compensating for a poor shot with our hands.
When was the last time you thought about taking a breath? Or the pressure your lungs create in your chest and abdomen when take a deep breath? It's easy to forget because you don't have a lot of feeling inside your body. This is the same reason why it's easy to not realize how much you're bending your arms.
The SAMI is great because it creates an external awareness of what your arms are doing. You can feel AND hear it.
It's one of the first things I use at the golf school because as simple as it seems, it's extremely helpful for creating structured long arms. We have to feel structured and mechanized.
You build feels through good mechanics.
You don't build good mechanics through feels.
Pick up a SAMI, try it out, if it doesn't help you remember to keep your arms long, return it for a full refund.
You can pick up a SAMI with the button below. If you're interested in coming to golf school you can…
