Positive Distraction

It can’t be denied that Golf is just as taxing mentally as it is physically. Putting especially can be intimidating and can fill even the best players’ head with doubt.

To help combat the nerves and give yourself something to focus on other than the outcome, use a tactic called positive distraction. In other words, give yourself a routine and focus on the rhythm of your stroke.

Internally go through the putting steps, using the cadence of 80 or 90 BPM (beats per minute) to stay on track. The backstroke on 1, touch the ball on 2, eyes down on 3, and the head releases on 4.
