How to Build a Tour Striker Golf Swing
Make More Breaking Putts by Trusting Your Setup and Stroke
When it comes to making breaking putts... You could have textbook posture... Laser-like aim... The absolute right line... The ideal stroke path... A smooth, metronome-like tempo... And strike the ball with the perfect speed... BUT... It's all for nothing unless you commit to everything above and TRUST it at the moment of truth. This might sound "obvious," but many golfers do everything right until it's time to pull the putter back and make a stroke. Often, they get scared and "bail out" of the correct line or speed at the last second... Miss the putt... Then beat themselves up for not sticking to their guns. If you can relate, watch the above video. It's not a tip on putting technique... But rather an important reminder to COMMIT to the amount of break, shape and speed of the putt you intend to hit... And TRUSTING yourself to execute it. p.s. The device I'm practicing with (because it helps me develop trust) is the Tour Path Putting System.
Learn moreHow to Consistently Hit the Center of Your Driver
Modern drivers are SO much better than they were even five years ago, but the fact remains: The farther you contact the ball away from the center of the clubface... The less optimal the launch characteristics. That's a nice way of saying the ball probably won't travel as far. To be sure, there are a LOT of factors at play (launch angle, ball speed, spin rate, etc.) that affect trajectory, carry, roll and overall distance, but... In general, you'll hit your longest drives by hitting the sweet spot. One popular way to see where you're making contact is to first lightly coat your driver face with sprayable foot powder. Then, when you hit the ball, you can easily see where the ball made contact. But here is the misconception I see with many students: When they hit the ball toward the heel, they think they need to move farther away from the ball. (And vice versa when they make contact toward the toe.) The reality is, these "misses" have more to do with getting steep and/or bent arms. But what I really want you to think about first is, "measuring to the ball" to establish a proper and consistent radius. In the above video, I'll illustrate this using a 48" tall tee, which should really help put this in perspective. And I'll also show you why you should, "build your house first," and "pour the foundation" last. Together, you can start taking full advantage of your driver's "hotspot" and start hitting your longest drives...consistently!
Learn moreHow to Hit the Ball Crisply in Soft, Wet Conditions
If you're playing where the turf is softer and wetter than usual... Or if you sometimes play during during rain... Watch the video above to learn how to strike the ball solid despite a soggy stance. Truth be told, the advice in here will help you hit the ball better and more reliably on ANY type of turf conditions. Enjoy.
Learn moreHit a TON More Fairways Using the "Punisher Drill"
It doesn't really matter what your natural shot shape is off the tee... If you want to hit more fairways, you must START the ball on your intended line (so you can allow for any curve). And to do that, you must be able to control your clubface at impact. Yes, even if you have a correct club PATH (which most people do)... If you have "chaos" in your clubface, i.e, you're rolling it open or closed... Or if you're "holding it off"... Your shots are not going to start off in the right direction... And likely miss the fairway. This is why I always say, "the clubface is king." In today's video, I'll show you a great drill that helps you line up the clubface at impact... So your drives take off where you want them to! For those of you putting away those "snow plow driveway stakes" now that it's spring, you may be able to use one of those. If not, you'll see I'm using the Tour Striker Toolbox which includes the right-sized rods for this drill.
Learn moreChop Some Logs and Find Your Rhythm
Most golfers hear "use your hands" and immediately fall into chaos. Flipping, casting, throwing the club at the ball. In this lesson, Martin breaks down why magic hands only work when your body rotation and weight shift are working with them — and uses a simple log-chopping analogy to help you feel the difference.
Learn moreThe Swing Flaw You Can't Feel (But Probably Have)
Most golfers have heard the term. Few actually know what it feels like. In this video I break down one of the most common swing killers I see, why it's so hard to catch on your own, and the simple awareness drill that tour players use to train it out for good. The Smart Ball Sleeve isn't just a training aid, it's a complete training system. The Sleeve comes with a full library of protocol videos to show you exactly how to use it. I personally shot over 30 lessons and drills so you know precisely what to work on and why. [Shop the Smart Ball Sleeve]
Learn moreWhat Real Impact Actually Looks Like (and How to Train It)
Martin breaks down what real impact actually looks like — open hips, braced lead leg, and a dynamic move that happens in a split second. See how Jack, Tiger, Ben Hogan and the all-time greats get there automatically, and why it all starts with your backswing. Want to feel this faster? The Tour Striker Swing Trainer is what Martin uses in this video to train the right positions. → Check it out here.
Learn moreStop Staying Still: What the Scales Reveal About Your Short Game
Most golfers think small shots need small movement. They freeze over the ball, keep their head down, and hope for the best. In this lesson, I am using bathroom scales to show why dynamic movement — even on short shots around the green — is the key to consistent contact.
Learn moreYou're Gripping the Club Wrong (And It's Costing You Distance)
Most golfers grip the club in their palms. It feels secure, like you're in control. But you're actually locking yourself out of a proper release before you even start your backswing. The club needs to sit in your fingers — specifically in the fingers of your left hand. That's where you get leverage. That's where you create freedom through the golf ball. In this video, I'll show you exactly where the club should sit, why it matters, and what changes when you get it right. Simple adjustment. Massive difference. The training aid I'm using in this video is the Flex Click — it's a wrist hinge trainer that gives you a tangible reminder of where your hands should be. If you want that feedback while you practice, you can grab one here.
